The list of benefits that we find important could easily be a long one, but I love the readily available support network! Whether it be Industry Guidelines, Safety Advice, General Support (including Legal/Insurance) or the amazing training programs & accredited trainers register. The information available leaves nothing in question & there is always someone willing to assist if you contact the office.
Personally the networking & training opportunities have proven extremely beneficial to myself and Swan Hill Hire. The general meetings and Hire Convention are not only informative but also allow us to meet industry colleagues & expand our business demographic in ways that wouldn’t usually be available, due to our “remote” location.

The HRIA, EWPA and TSHA provides members with a forum to be well-versed and guided in our unique and growing industry. The information and access to industry knowledge made available directly through the association and networking with other members is invaluable. In a highly regulated industry, it is so important to stay informed, safe and supported. Membership is essential to achieve those ideals.

I’ve had the good fortune that my previous employers have all been actively involved with the association, even when they were all just State based organisations, as they all held a view that “a rising tide lifts all ships”. My own involvement goes back to the early 90’s when I would attend all the State meetings to catch up with suppliers and fellow industry people to Network and to keep abreast of what was happening in our industry. Many good, lifelong friends have wandered into my life via the association and they have been very helpful when I’ve needed advice or insight.
The networking element is still the most important aspect of my membership. In our industry our competitors are also our suppliers as no one company has all the capital at the right time to support their customers requirements.
IMO, to be a member of an industry association like ours takes more than just paying membership fees. As a minimum, attending meetings and engaging with my cohort, and when possible, taking it the next step and being active on the State or National boards.

I couldn’t recommend the HRIA association strongly enough for anyone considering membership. In my over 20 years of membership, I have met many peers and formed relationships that has allowed me to call on many members to ask questions along my business journey. I have created some lifelong friendships with other members that seen me enjoy shared family holidays, and many social gatherings.
For many members the opportunity to meet with suppliers in a social setting really builds some strong ties, as a specialist Hire Company, I only have a few supplies that attend these meetings, but the relationships I’ve formed with those suppliers are some of my strongest.
I’ve been afforded the opportunity to be a state president on two different occasions, and the personal growth and public speaking growth was incredibly worthwhile in my career.
I’ve been involved in a few hire companies during my working life, and I have used quite a number of the HRIA shared services to help me along the way, particularly when I owned and operated smaller hire company, and didn’t have all the resources in house for example HR assistance, legal assistance, forms and procedures generation and training services.
One of the greatest examples of my membership benefit from the HRIA was during Covid when I reached out to the association and many of the members to check in to see what they were doing. During a very tough time we were able to sense check what we were doing in our own organization.
I’ve put several employees through the young professionals and women in hire programs, and they have seen immense growth in their working life journeys and have been forever grateful for those experiences. I can’t recommend those programs enough.
