PPSA and the Hire and Rental Industry

Hire businesses across Australia have been at risk under the Personal Properties Securities Act (2009). The HRIA worked hard with its legal team to have this redressed. Finally, on 19 May 2017 Royal Assent was granted to the PPS Amendment (PPS Leases) Bill 2017, which became part of the Act on 20 May 2017.

On this PPSA-specific webpage you can track the work that went on behind the scenes and how the hire industry’s PPSA issues were resolved.  Thanks to everyone involved in achieving this excellent result for the hire industry and special thanks go to Nationals Senator John Williams and his Chief of Staff Greg Kachel plus our dedicated team of Gary Kerr, Tim Nuttall and Oliver Shtein who kept going when many others would have given up.

Please see ‘PPSA and Hire Business – Guidance Note – Updated Oct 2017’ which will explain changes to the Act and answer your frequently asked questions.  For a shorter summary of the PPSA and how it affects the hire industry, we have published a ‘PPSA Quick Reference Guidance Note Oct 2017.’
